2000 Sangiacomo - Pinot Noir
Tasting Notes
Our second release from this highly regarded vineyard has many similarities to the first. Where the vintage has made the most dramatic impact, though, is in the structure of the wine. This vintage has a less aggressive, more delicate structure that we feel is perhaps more truly representative of these vineyards than the more powerful '99. However, just like the 1999, the nose is Sangiacomo terroir front-and-center. Wild, "sauvage" aromas of roasted meat, baking spice, intriguing herbal notes are the complexing counterpoint to a jammy, strawberry, red fruit core. The palate is medium bodied with an unexpected elegance compared to the '99 at this young age. Ripe, supple tannins and soft, balanced acidity has yielded a texture that is round and immediately accessible. Enjoy immediately upon release and for an additional 1-2 years.
